About Six
Six (2018 – 2022)
Each of these images is an orphan that did not find a home in any of the other portfolios. (“In Passing” provides the most obviously shared genetic material, but they don’t quite belong there.) So I adopted and adapted them to appear together as a small family that has a life of its own. Both individually, and especially together, they are slightly mysterious, or at least somewhat ambiguous, which I count as an asset.
In all my portfolios, I regard relationships among images and the sequences in which they are seen to be as meaningful as the individual pictures. (See, for example, the “About” text that accompanies “Affinities.”) In “Six”, I believe that a delicate, implicit thread runs through the small group, and that this sensibility evolves as you go from one image to the next.
